Senegal is reclaiming its culture. Starting at 5.20 a tragic colonial narrative is told. African soldiers where recruited to fight in WWII. They fought bravely, even though they were not issued shoes, in winter in Europe. The parades in Paris, at the end of the war where the soldiers were celebrated, the black soldiers were not allowed to show their faces. Many promises where made to them, but in the end, after the war, they were shot. There are no reparations possible to make up for such treachery. May African countries claim their heritage, eliminating external as well as internal colonialism.
Namibia’s recently elected president is mentioning a land tax as an instrument to promote better wealth distribution.
Thank you for this focus on Africa and this horrific story about African WWII soldiers.
That's a hell of a story about Senegal. Thanks for keeping me updated, Wendy. Glad Namibia is glimpsing the obvious.
